Metal Roof Tax Credit Extended

In December 2010 Congress extended the Energy Efficiency Tax Incentives for Appliances, New Homes and Retrofits to Existing Homes for 2011 with some modifications to eligibility requirements. The tax credit covers 10% of the cost of materials installed, up to a maximum of $500 per home.

Energy Star®

All ENERGY STAR® labeled pre-painted metal roofs can qualify for the $500 tax credit.

  • The roof must be expected to last 5 years or have a 2 year warranty
  • Installation costs are not included

  • For tax purposes, receipts should be saved along with the Manufacturer’s Certification Statement
  • The IRS encourages manufacturers to provide these Certifications on their website to facilitate identification of qualified products
